An entertaining game against Stafford Town resulted in a 3-1 victory for the steelmen after a second half onslaught at Queen Street.
The team played well in the first half and could have been 1-0 up after a foul from the Stafford goalie on Sam Yankson gave Bilston the chance to score from the spot. Unfortunately the goalie made a great save from the resulting penaltly, keeping the game goalless until half time.
The second half saw the game open up, with Bilston playing some fantastic football towards the Turner End. After a period of sustained pressure, Sam Yankson put the Steelmen ahead with a well placed shot into the bottom corner.
The team continued to work hard, and had chances galore to score a second, before being sucker punched by a Stafford counter-attack to level things back up at 1-1. At this point we were starting to think it could be one of those days…
Dave King made a couple of inspired substitutions that seemed to re-galvanise the team, resulting in a net-busting strike from Jordan Crump making things 2-1. The game was getting stretched at this point, and after another couple of chances, substitute Harry Dixon put another past the hard-working Stafford goalkeeper to finish things off.
Final score: Bilston 3 – Stafford Town 1.
